As communities grow and age, the need for suitable senior housing options become more prevalant. We have identified this need and are provisioning for affordable accomodation for persons over the age of 60.
With secure accomodation, we aim to ensure residents are satisfied with the level of service and well cared for.
The primay users of our residential care services are the elderly that require minimal assistance and supervision in order to maintain dignity, safety and independence. While maintaining needed funds for future medical care.
Narraville Elderly Home was registered in 2013 with the business and intellectual property association. Mr. Williams had a vision 20 years ago; when he saws the struggles of the elderly in his community. He decided to take action, and wanted to make a difference in their lives.
Following the words of the founding father of Namibia, it struck Mr. Williams that he should play his part in looking after our elders. Mr. Williams dreamt of an Elderly home in Narraville where retired community members will be treated with respect and dignity.
After many ups and downs, the board members of Narraville Elderly Home have finally seen the light at the end of the tunnel, and soon the dream will become a reality.
Our Mission: To have a society where all elderly citizens have the opportunity to live happy ending lives.
The Narraville community at Walvis Bay witnessed the groundbreaking ceremony of a new senior citizens’ home on Friday, 07 August 2023.
Residents have been dreaming of building a home where their elderly will be taken care of. A group of residents thus started to work on the project three years ago, after board chairman David Williams shared his dream with friends.
Williams said he was inspired by the Bible and founding president Sam Nujoma. “I saw our elderly citizens struggle and saw that I had to do something to make their lives easier. I have a place in my heart for elderly people. "I was inspired by the words of the founding president who said we must look after our elders. The Bible instructs us to honour or parents so that our days will be lengthened."
After completion, the building would consist of 58 single and double residential units, each with a bathroom, bedroom, kitchen and lounge.
Minister of fisheries and marine resources Derek Klazen, who is also from Narraville, said the elderly possess a wealth of knowledge they have gained during a lifetime of triumphs and challenges. "In a world that often seems to prioritise the youth and speed, we must pause and remind ourselves of the immeasurable worth of our elderly. We must recognise that their stories, their memories and their perspectives are treasures that enrich our lives.
Stakeholders are hoping for companies’ financial support to realise their dream.
